Marlinspike Guest Lodge
Hout Bay
Address
15 Marlin Crescent Hout Bay 7806
Description
Join us at Marlinspike Guest Lodge for a relaxing stay in one of the most picturesque parts of Cape Town – Hout Bay. As you enter the property, you will be taken in by the panoramic view of Chapman’s Peak drive, the bay, the yacht marina, the fishing harbour and the town of Hout Bay framed by majestic mountains forming part of the Cape Nature reserve. This is the view that you will enjoy from any of our including twins, doubles and a family suite. Each of the rooms has an en suite toilet, shower, bath and bidet as well as its own safe, hairdryer and Television (7 channels including 2 satellite). We offer tea and coffee facilities and of course the ‘extra touches’ such as bath robes, shampoos and soaps. For those on business each room has access to Wi-Fi and if you need to use the internet there is a dedicated computer available to all guests (broadband connection). If you are here for fun, the beach is about 1km walk past the harbour and the curio market (we provide the beach towels). Wake up to the visiting guinea fowl and (weather permitting) enjoy a sumptuous breakfast of cereal, fruit salad, orange juice, tea or real coffee, as well as eggs (of your choice), bacon, mushrooms and tomato. Hout Bay is a special town – in itself a microcosm of South Africa with both rich and poor living in harmony in the valley. Rich in beaches, mountain walks and bird life, you may choose to simply take a hike (you can walk directly on to the mountain from Marlinspike) or visit the famous World of Birds or the historic cannons and old fort. For the more adventurous, you may choose a fishing trip or kayaking to fill your holiday hours, Just over the ‘nek’ in Constantia there is a wine route offering some of the finest wines in the Cape and only 20 minutes drive will bring you to Table Mountain, the waterfront or the convention centre. Take the road over the famed Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point (45 minutes) and then travel round the peninsula to visit the penguins at Boulders beach. After a full day, come home for a drink in our cozy pub or sit on your balcony an spot the whales (in season of course) before either heading our for a meal at one of Hout Bay’s many excellent restaurants or enjoying a home cooked seafood platter (served on request) or meal of the day. Marlinspike Lodge, Cape Town Marlinspike Guest Lodge, situated in Hout Bay, Cape Town offers 4 Star (graded) accommodation and is rated "highly recommended" under the AA Grading Scheme. Marlinspike Guest Lodge has spectacular, uninterrupted sea and mountain views from every room. We overlook Hout Bay, the yacht marina, the fishing harbour, Chapman's Peak and Hout Bay beach from every bedroom! Relax and Enjoy Hout Bay, Cape Town and the Peninsula Hout Bay area is blessed with a number of beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, pubs and shopping areas. There are also mountain walks, boat rides, sailing, deep sea fishing, diving and horse riding. Many of Cape Town's most memorable sights are right on our doorstep such as the world of Birds and Seal Island. If you are fortunate to visit in season, you can watch the Whales from your room or en route to Cape Point Nature reserve and Boulders Beach. Cape Town central is only 20 minutes by car where you may visit Table Mountain, the Waterfront, the Castle and Robben Island not to mention the many restaurants and cultural events that take place there all year round. If you are here for a conference, where better to relax – away from the bustle of the city but an easy drive in to the Cape Town Convention Centre after a hearty breakfast. If it’s wine that you came to enjoy, we are only 5km from the Constantia Wine Route and within a 40 minute drive to Stellenbosch. Dinner is served on request. We are famous for our seafood platter which includes fresh cape rock lobster, mussels (in season), prawns, calamari and line fish. We are also within 1km of two of the Cape’s finest seafood restaurants as well as a steak house and an Italian restaurant.
